Neighborhood and local experiences

Explore the Local Character of Kampung Baru

Kampung Baru is a residential neighborhood close to the center of Kuala Lumpur, known to visitors for its traditional Malay food and everyday street life. Families run eateries along the main roads, stalls open for breakfast and again in the evening, and the pace feels noticeably different from the commercial districts nearby.

The contrast is part of the appeal. From many corners of the neighborhood, the towers of KLCC rise above the rooftops, a reminder that the modern city is close by.

Local food and dining

Eat where the neighborhood eats

Food is the easiest way into Kampung Baru. The hotel sits on Jalan Raja Uda among local restaurants, including tom yam and seafood spots listed right on the same road, so a meal is rarely more than a few steps away.

Around the wider neighborhood you will find food stalls, family restaurants, and roadside vendors serving Malay dishes. Menus, opening hours, and certifications differ from place to place, so check with each outlet directly if you have specific dietary needs.
